About the 2027 BMW X1

The X1 is the entry point of BMW's X range and its most compact SUV: 177.2 inches long, five seats, and xDrive all-wheel drive standard on both models rather than an option to price. The lineup is two cars from $43,200 to $52,400 MSRP, both using a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder through a 7-speed dual clutch, at 241 horsepower in the X1 xDrive28i and 312 in the X1 M35i, with an identical 295 lb-ft of torque. Around Fairfield that combination has to work on the Interstate 80 commute and on Highway 29 in the same week, which is what the car is set up to do.

For 2027 the headline equipment is standard rather than optional: the BMW Curved Display, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch control display running BMW iDrive on Operating System 9, comes on both models, alongside navigation, a power liftgate, roof rails and a five-system driver-assistance suite. The M35i adds Adaptive M Suspension, M Sport brakes and a 19-inch wheel. Cargo is 25.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats on either one, with 994 pounds of standard payload capacity.
