Serving Fairfield, CA
The all-electric BMW i4 offers the functionality and premium features of a luxury sedan paired with the sleek back styling of a hatchback. The i5 EV is a midsize sedan with equally stunning styling and features. These EVs display the future of BMW's engineering evolution and are a delight to drive. What are the important differences between the 2026 BMW i4 and i5?
Performance
Three powertrains are available for the i4. The eDrive40 comes with a 335-horsepower, single-motor system. The xDrive40 is a dual-motor, 396-horsepower system with all-wheel drive. The M50 also features two motors, which generate a combined 562 horsepower.
The 2026 BMW i5 is also available with three powertrain systems. The eDrive40 and the xDrive40 have the same powertrains as the i4's versions of these trim levels. The M60's dual-motor system delivers 593 horsepower.
Appearance
The 2026 i4's athletic design is established by a swooping hood with a strongly tapered front end. A pair of double-elemental LED headlights and powerful air inlets flank the tall, kidney-shaped grille. Near the front fenders, an angled accent creates a sense of power, while the flowing accents convey the sensation of forward momentum.
The 2025 i5 has a tapered yet arched roof with a gracefully descending hood. The chrome-outlined grille trends to the sides while the large bumper flares outward to support the grille. The edgy LED headlights are placed above small air inlets. Over the sides, the angles of the smooth contouring and crisp accent line converge for a premium effect.
Features
If you decide to drive home in the BMW i4, you could appreciate features like a head-up display, traffic jam assistance, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, wireless phone charging, an automated parking system, a 360-degree camera, lane keeping, a heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone app connectivity, a power liftgate, synthetic leather upholstery, a 14.9-inch touch display screen, a sunroof, and more.
The BMW i5 is equipped with many of these features, and it also offers a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, heated front and rear seats, a four-zone climate control system, leather upholstery, highway driving assistance, a power rear sunshade, and several other features.
